Designed for a maximum of 6 participants, cooking classes at the Inn offer a fun way to eat your way through a weekend. Couples or groups of friends receive hands-on instruction for some of the Inn’s favorite recipes and are part of preparing Saturday night dinner.
Arrive at 10 Saturday morning for a day of cooking, that evening enjoy a relaxing dinner before retiring to your sumptuous room. Have a delightful breakfast Sunday morning before returning home. The package rate includes accommodations for one night (double occupancy), dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning, wine sipping, classes, recipe book, aprons, taxes, and gratuity.
Arrive Friday afternoon, settle in, relax, and unwind. After dinner, you can review the customized recipe book for the next day.
Enjoy breakfast Saturday morning then don your Abingdon Manor apron for the first class beginning at 10 a.m which usually focuses on sorbet, dessert, and starter. After lunch (on your own) the afternoon class runs from 1:30 to 4:30. While sampling some selections from Abingdon Manor’s wine cellar, work on that evening’s unique salad and entree. Each person receives hands-on experience as well as tips and techniques which can be applied to many meal situations. The sumptuous 6-course dinner begins at 7:30 that evening.
Sunday morning offers another full breakfast before you return home to try out your new menus and skills on your family and friends.

We have just the place and fun activities to make it a memorable experience for all. Designed for 4 to 8 friends, you can select from either a one or two-night package.
With both packages, you get a “Chocolate and Wine Experience”, a class on decorating with chocolate while sampling selections from the Inns curated wine list. Included in the two-night package, on the second morning is a 2 hour class in a subject area you select from three different experiences, painting, flower arranging, or cake decorating. You then have a free afternoon to explore a number of antique shops in the area. Both packages include dinner at the Inn’s award-winning restaurant and a full breakfast.

In this class, you will have the opportunity to explore your “artistic side”. The two-hour class will focus on creating your own 11 x 14 floral painting using acrylic pastels. The class is conducted by Erin Shaul. From Greenville South Carolina, she is a graduate of Lander University with a BS in Visual arts and a Masters of Arts in Teaching. Erin is the art instructor at the Latta Elementary School. In addition, she offers classes for students and adults in the community.
In the class, the instructor will demonstrate arrangements in a basket, centerpiece, and wreath. Dollie Morrell, the class instructor is the principal of the Latta elementary school, a life long member of the Magnolia Garden Club, and has been decorating with flowers for over 30 years.
The class will focus on utilizing natural materials to create dramatic, seasonal arrangements.
This class will focus on tips and techniques which can be used for decorating cakes, cookies, and cupcakes. During this class, the attendees will learn to make a simple buttercream icing recipe and the best techniques for tinting. Each person will learn piping techniques using four different tips to create various effects. The instructor will demonstrate each aspect and then assist each person in hands-on decorating.
At the end of the class, each person will box up their creations along with their tips and recipes to take home. Amy Jones Powell is the instructor for the class. She has been baking since she was a child learning from her Grandmother. Amy worked at a bakery and restaurant for 3 years as the principal baker before starting her own business 7 years ago.

Arrive early Friday and visit our two local town antique shops. Relax at the Inn before enjoying a gourmet dining experience. After breakfast, Saturday morning, venture out to the nearby towns of Marion, Mullins, and Florence for shopping at 3 antique malls and various shops. Return to the Inn to freshen up and pick up your dinner before heading out to the auction starting at 6 pm. After the auction return to the Inn for a restful night and a leisurely breakfast before returning home with your newest acquisitions.
